I first met Rez, Diane’s son, a year ago when I was interviewing him for a Child Development class. He’s a pretty shy individual, but once he gets comfortable around you, you’ll get to see an adventurous and funny little boy, not mentioning a handsome individual. We met up at Umlauf Garden, near Zilker Park, and the place was perfect for a mid-day photoshoot since the shades block out the baking sun. I basically followed Diane, Michael, and Rez around while they were touring the garden, and just snapped away like a paparazzi. What was challenging was the constant change in lightning, the shade and the sun, that forced me to change the shutter speed constantly. I had on a Nikon 18-200mm lens that I was using for the first time, and it was an okay lens to use. The lens itself is a perfect all-around lens to use, because of the wide angle and the good zoom, but as far as taking portraits, it’s not as superb as a prime lens, such as the 35mm 1.8 on my D40X. Toward the end of the shoot, as Rez started to open up more, I was able to capture a lot of shots that I wanted.
