Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas – Holiday Party 2010

Last Sunday, Big Brothers Big Sisters held a holiday party at Holiday Inn to pass out gifts to the Littles. I’ve never seen so many kids in my life, lol. I had a great time though, and I’m sure Cristian did too. He was deciding between getting a basketball or a Rubik’s cube, and settled on the former. One thing I learned from this event was pushing Cristian to try something new, instead of letting it go when he hesitates to try. Case in point, he was disappointed of the blurry photos when he first started using my camera and didn’t want to bother with it, but I kept on handing it to him. Seeing how he got excited when the photos later came out to be crispy cleared made me realize that sometimes I just need to keep pushing him. Another mentoring lesson learned.

On another note, I had to bust out my external hard drive to find the photo taken with Emma, our Match Support Specialist, when I first started with BBBS in 2006. This photo was taken during Cristian’s 5th grade graduation at Becker Elementary, and he’s currently a Freshman at Bowie High. He looks the same to me, while I think I look older (and wiser?) despite of the same “Not now, I’m busy” game shirt, haha . Please kindly enjoy the photos that my assistant, Cristian, and I took.
